Ingot scalpers for main ingot surfaces

Knoevenagel® scalpers from SMS group are installed upstream of aluminum hot rolling mills. Here, they remove the oxide skin as well as any metallurgical impurities from the surface of the ingots. Scalping the edges reduces the amount of trimming scrap generated in the subsequent hot rolling process. This also keeps the work rolls clean. Another impressive feature of our ingot scalping machines is their high rigidity. That guarantees the best surface qualities right down to micron level – even on hard aluminum alloys.

Additional scalping of the ingot edges is the ideal way to not only save even more material, but also achieve better operational reliability in downstream production.

Band saws

Also available to you is our latest generation of band saws. They make full use of the capabilities of modern band-saw blades. The result? High performance and lower tool costs. That’s because using disposable saw blades with extremely hard alloys is much more cost-effective than grinding circular saws.

Brazing lines

These lines clean and assemble cladded sheet material used as aircraft sheet and in heat exchangers. First up, brushes clean the plate and/or core ingots. Next comes automatic assembly and welding of the liners to the core ingot. Also included is strapping and marking equipment. Your workshop environment remains spotless because dust and fume extractors capture and remove all cleaning dust and welding fumes.
