The SMS ZEROFlame family is suitable for use with rich gases, such as coke oven gas (COG) and natural gas (NG). SMS ZEROFlame is a versatile burner engineered for natural gas applications, providing optimal combustion control and flexibility with three operational modes: flame, flameless, and overboost. This innovative burner achieves extra low NOx emissions of ≤40 ppm, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability. With power sizes ranging from 500 kW to 3,000 kW, it is designed to meet diverse industrial reheating needs. The burner features a turn-down ratio of 1:3 in flameless mode and 1:8 in flame mode, ensuring efficient operation across various conditions. Its advanced design promotes the highest thermal uniformity, enhancing overall process efficiency.

Key features

SMS ZEROFlame Hydrogen Hybrid HY2

The Hydrogen Hybrid HY2 configuration offers additional fuel flexibility. It can be operated with hydrogen, coke oven gas, or natural gas with any hydrogen content (up to 100%) in the fuel mixture.

SMS ZEROFlame Regenerative

The regenerative configuration is equipped with a heat recovery system that uses the waste gases to preheat the combustion air up to 1,100°C. In this way, energy efficiency and high environmental performance are achieved.

SMS ZEROFlame Dual configuration

The dual configuration has been specifically designed for exploiting lean gases like BFG, BOF or syngas. The lean gas will be used in the flame mode while a separate set of lances for flame and flameless mode will be fed by natural gas. The dual flame technology allows to use the full power of the available lean gas and to inject the required amount of natural gas only when the power or flow of the syngas is not sufficient to sustain the heat demand of the specific combustion control zone.
