Europe has been the heart of SMS group for 150 years. Here, our history started with companies such as Siemag, Schloemann, SMS, Meer or Paul Wurth and this is where  we started to create the expertise and know-how on which our success is based.
The region’s headquarters are Luxembourg, but the experts for sales and order execution are also located in our offices in Germany and other European countries. Hilchenbach and Mönchengladbach are also the home of the first-class service workshops. In combination with the experts for electrics, automation and digitalization, this is the perfect set-up to provide excellent service solutions along the complete plant lifecycle.

The European metals industry is characterized by a high level of know-how and the manufacturing of products with a high value add. As a result, the focus is very much on the increase of quality and efficiency when it comes to the modernization of existing plants and equipment.  

Europe has decided to be a model for the transformation of the metals industry towards a carbon-lean, environmentally responsible and circular economy. This is why we made Europe and especially Luxembourg the research and development center (R&D Center) for decarbonization and recycling within SMS group.
