The 2,250 mm hot strip mill we supplied to Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel represents a new benchmark in efficient and green hot strip production. It includes lots of technology packages and Ecoplant components such as thermal insulation elements between the roughing and finishing mills, CVC® plus, hydraulic differential tension loopers in the finishing mill, and efficient fluid systems.
The finishing stands are designed for high rolling forces and torques giving Baosteel Zhanjiang the possibility for high pass reductions even when rolling advanced high-strength steel grades. To be able to transmit these high torques, this is the first new plant worldwide to feature Sieflex®-HT spindles (HT = high torque) in all finishing stands . Characteristic of these gear type spindles is a significantly higher torque transmission than conventional spindles.
