There's no better illustration of how continuous modernization helps you keep a plant at the cutting edge of technology than the hot strip mill of Salzgitter Flachstahl. That's because several modernization phases to upgrade almost all the mill areas have significantly boosted production and expanded the product mix by wider strip and advanced steel grades.

SMS group has been involved in the continuous modernization of the hot strip mill for many years. Together with Salzgitter, we developed customized solutions that ensured a minimum of downtimes and disruption.

  • F1-F7: CVC® plus and work roll bending
