DCR mills for continuous and batch operations

In 2011, Shougang Jingtang Iron & Steel ordered an annealing line with an integrated inline DCR mill and an additional offline DCR mill for their works on Caofeidian Island. Both the 4-high mills have been operating since 2013.

Inline DCR mill
Suitable for both wet and dry skin-passing, the twin-stand inline DCR mill adjusts the mechanical and technological strip properties. It rolls the strip with reductions of up to 42 percent and applies a specified roughness to the strip surface. To ensure continuous operation, a push-through mode is implemented for work roll changeover. Finally, after passing through the DCR mill, the strip is air-dried.

Offline DCR mill
Furthermore, SMS group supplied a twin-stand offline DCR mill for the discontinuous production of tinplate in a second production route. Downstream from a batch annealing furnace, carbon steel strip is skin-passed down to gages of as little as 1.00 millimeters. Here again, 42 percent reductions are possible and the mill ensures the required strip surface roughness.
