Purso Oy orders billet homogenizing plant
Profile manufacturer Purso Oy, Finland, has placed an order with Hertwich Engineering (www.hertwich.com), Austria, for the supply and commissioning of a billet homogenizing plant. The continuous homogenizing line replaces separately operated batch homogenizing and sawing plants. The automated plant requires less operating personnel. Moreover, energy savings of about 20 percent are achievable. The improved billet homogenizing quality ensures more efficient and faster extrusion.
Annual capacity is 20,000 tons of billets with diameters ranging from 203 to 228 millimeters, which are processed at the in-house extrusion plant.
The scope of supply includes a continuous homogenizing furnace, cooling station, ultrasonic testing unit as well as sawing and packing equipment.
Commissioning is scheduled for April 2014.
SMS Siemag AG and SMS Meer GmbH are both companies of SMS group which, under the roof of SMS Holding GmbH, consists of a group of companies internationally active in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the steel and nonferrous metals industry.
