After the disastrous fire at the end of last May, which had caused the entire aluminum hot rolling mill of IMPOL, located in Sibenik, Croatia, to fail, SMS group had provided non-bureaucratic and rapid support.

Immediately after the news about the damage had spread, a team of SMS group experts set off for Sibenik to analyze the fire damage and promptly initiate all necessary actions for repair or replacement of the damaged components.

IMPOL successfully restarted their rolling operations in the first week of September with new controls for the hydraulic and pneumatic systems and a new oil/air lubrication unit in place, and with a completely overhauled electro-mechanical adjustment system and renewed roll stand piping.

“With SMS group at our side we felt to be in good hands right from the beginning. Our production loss was painful yet tolerable thanks to the immediately rendered support. With the assistance of SMS group, we were able to quickly ramp up to the rated production capacity.” Bojan Kropf, Executive Director of Application R&D, IMPOL.
