Members of the Global Production Community got together October 17 to 18 for the second Community Meeting of 2018 at SMS group in Hilchenbach.
The Global Production Community is organized by the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. Its members include leading German companies from the mechanical engineering and plant construction sector, the automotive and automotive supplier industry, and the electrical and household appliance industry. Principles, methods and tools for designing production networks are discussed, developed and customized within the Community.
The meeting at SMS group focused on the subjects of product (re)allocation, i.e. the introduction of new products in the business and the relocation of products between the sites in a production or engineering network, as well as the utilization of digitalization potential in production processes. “Simplify Work” was the motto under which Dr. Michael Riesener, CEO of e.GO Digital GmbH in Aachen, presented the potential uses of modern industrial apps to simplify business processes right along the value chain.
As well as services in the fields of business intelligence, data analytics and augmented reality, supporting business processes with digital applications is also an area of focus of SMS group and an important part of activities connected to Industrie 4.0
