In autumn 2018 the SMS „Leaders of Tomorrow“ program started with 17 managers that came from all local subsidiaries of SMS group. A multi-stage selection process was held, whereby the program participants were proposed by their managers. Selection criteria included international skills, successful management of both internal and external projects, and the ability to see the big picture across products, processes, and geographies. The high-potential managers singled out during this procedure are offered professional development for an international career, thereby creating a future talent pool for professional succession planning at a top management level.
The selection process for a second group of Leaders of Tomorrow, set to start in autumn 2019, has already been launched. It will then be rotated in two-year cycles. In this way, SMS group is ensuring that a clear system of succession planning with impressively well-trained experts is in place.
