MEERcut is an in‑line high‑speed shear solution from SMS group designed for wire rod rolling mills operating at speeds of up to 130 m/s. Installed directly in front of the laying head, the system performs precise trimming of hot, out‑of‑tolerance head and tail ends, as well as emergency cutting when required. By eliminating uncooled front and tail ends, MEERcut ensures constant mechanical properties and uniform quality throughout the entire coil. Optimized and repeatable cropping lengths increase plant yield by up to 2%, while automated operation reduces manual trimming work in hot and coil handling areas, improving operator safety. With an overall length of less than 3.0 m, MEERcut can be easily integrated into existing or new plants and offers a payback period of 6 to 12 months.
