Annealing and coating lines, Shougang Qian’an (China)

Contracted by Shougang Qian’an, China, SMS group successfully commissioned the Decarburizing and Coating Line (DCL4) and Flattening and Coating Line (FCL3), which produced their first coils on April 19, 2023. Claimed by Shougang to be the first in China designed to manufacture 100% thin gauge HGO silicon steel, these lines mark a significant milestone for our customer.

The orders for SGZX-DCL4 and FCL3 were awarded to SMS group on July 1, 2021, amid the Covid pandemic. The scope included the design of mechanical and process equipment, the supply of quality-related core components, and the X-Pact electrics and automation system. Even during this challenging time, the collaborative efforts of Shougang and SMS group ensured professional execution, and the on-site team achieved the production of the first coils on both lines as per the contract schedule.

These lines significantly enhance Shougang’s production capabilities, particularly in high-grade silicon steel. This advancement also supports energy efficiency goals, exemplified by the increased production of high-efficiency transformers using grain-oriented electrical sheets. The electric steel strip produced, characterized by its advantageous magnetic properties, will contribute to the increasing demand for efficient electrification in China.
