S.I.M.A.C.

1969 was when a group of engineers in Tarcento, Italy created the Società Italiana Macchine Attrezzature Carpenterie, or S.I.M.A.C. for short. Over the next few decades, the company grew into a major manufacturer of plant, machinery, and equipment in the field of light section mills, with sites in Europe, the U.S., South America, the Middle East, and Asia.

For SMS, its good name and reputation were the deciding factor in going into partnership with S.I.M.A.C. In 1991, SMS acquired a 50% stake in the company. This strengthened its market position in the area of long products. It acquired the other 50% in 1995. Following a strategic reorganization, S.I.M.A.C. joined SMS Meer in 2001.
