World’s first Reversing Cold Mill in 18-HS design
The Reversing Cold Mill (RCM) in 18-HS design went on stream in 2007. It enabled Yieh United to expand its production capacity for cold-rolled stainless-steel strip in the grades AISI 400 (ferrite) and AISI 300 (austenite).
The first customer to receive our new stand type was Taiwanese company Yieh United Steel Corporation (YUSCO). The unit supplements two 20-high stands which were part of a previous SMS group supply package. The Reversing Cold Mill (RCM) in 18-HS design went on stream in 2007. It enabled YUSCO to expand its production capacity for cold-rolled stainless-steel strip in the grades AISI 400 (ferrite) and AISI 300 (austenite).
The RCM stands out for its slim work rolls with a diameter of just 120 mm. There is also horizontal support from adjustable roller bridges. This ensures lateral stabilization of the work rolls during the rolling process. Our customer also appreciates these quality-determining features:
- Servohydraulic roll-gap control (AGC)
- HS shifting for the work rolls
- Intermediate roll bending and shifting
- Emulsion system
- Electronic database for presetting all rolling parameters
- Thickness control
