CONGAUGE is a multitasking radiometric sensor for accurate mold level control in continuous casting. Unlike conventional systems that only measure steel level, CONGAUGE simultaneously determines liquid steel level and mold powder thickness in the mold tube. This is achieved through an innovative detector design using multiple small crystals instead of a single crystal. Two critical process values from one compact device support stable casting conditions, reduced downtime, and improved surface quality. CONGAUGE can be installed on new or existing casters for SBQ billets, blooms, beam blanks, or slabs. It serves as a plug-and-play unit and can replace many other mold level control devices. Conventional calibration procedures and proprietary algorithms ensure high accuracy and ease of use.
