Overcoming production restrictions caused by vibrations in cold rolling

X-Pact® Active Chatter Damping minimizes mill chatter, such asthe well-known 3rd Octave Chatter, by introducing precise counter-vibrations into the roll gap with Piezo actuators. These electro-mechanical actuators have a control bandwidth up to 1000 Hz and are particularly suitable to apply the counter-vibrations.

    The X-Pact® Active Chatter Damping system ensures significantly reduced vibration amplitudes in the 3rd Octave Chatter frequency range and allows rolling at higher rolling speeds.

    Easy and safe plant operation

    The functions of the X-Pact® Active Chatter Damping system can be easily activated, e.g. via the integrated HMI.

    Subsequently, the state-of-the-art control takes over the automatic Chatter damping in real time. In addition, intelligent (monitoring) functions support the operator and enable the safe operation of the plant.

  • Modular mechanical design and stand alone automation application

    The modular system design facilitates integration with existing plants (brownfield applications) to minimize installation efforts.

    The control system is running in a standalone cabinet that also contains the power supply for the Piezo elements. The system features a Level 1 automation interface for remote use, signals and data exchange with the rolling mill automation.

  • Condition Monitoring with Genius CM®

    Intelligent analysis for predictive maintenance

    Additional sensors and continuous monitoring functions of Genius CM® software observe the status of the system and display it transparently. Furthermore, the vibration status of the plant is monitored with the help of real-time live HMIs and long-term trend graphs. Intelligent analysis tools assist in the context of predictive maintenance.
