Etchells Machinery

Etchells Machinery began in 1873 in Darlaston, England, founded by David Etchells to manufacture fasteners. By the early 1900s, the company had expanded into building machine tools and operated its own foundry. In 1929, it incorporated as David Etchells & Son Ltd., specializing in machinery for forging and fastening.

By the 1970s, it evolved into Etchells Machinery Ltd., known for heavy-duty equipment like MultiForge upsetters and hydraulic coining presses, used in aerospace and precision forging. Etchells is well known for the high production rate capacity of their automated horizontal upsetters.

The company became part of SMS group in 2004. Maintenance, spare parts supply, upgrades, and all other services for Etchells equipment are handled by SMS group Service.
