Itochu Machine-Technos Corp., Tokyo, Japan, has placed an order for Yamato Steel Co. Ltd., with SMS group for the supply of a new CRS^® straightener (Compact Roller Straightener) for Yamato’s heavy section mill at Himeji site in Japan.

The new CRS^®2000-9H horizontal roller straightener will replace the existing cantilever type straightener. This double support-type straightening machine with hydraulic adjustments and quick changing facilities will be the first of its kind in Japan. Furthermore, this machine will be equipped with a lifting device and for the first time with a fully automated chamber size adjustment system for the straightening discs.

With this new CRS^® roller straightener from the SMS group, Yamato Steel will be able to improve tolerance and quality of the sections. This type of straightener also impresses with lower maintenance requirements and lower media consumption, while at the same time offering high process reliability.

The commissioning of the straightening machine is scheduled for spring 2024.
